Dr. Hiranaka and our staff of aestheticians offer facial treatments at our location in Kona. Each facial is applied with gentle techniques that ensure glowing results for all of our patients.
The Benefits of Facial Treatments
Facials aid in promoting a youthful and ageless appearance. Whether you opt for chemical peels or exfoliation, keeping the topmost layer of the skin fresh and rejuvenated can do wonders for your appearance. We offer a wide range of different facial treatments to assist you in your health and beauty enhancement goals.
Unclogging: A facial is very beneficial in unclogging surface pores on the skin. Everyday we are exposed to chemicals, fumes, and transient dirt in the air around us. A facial eases the toxic buildup on the face by gently yet deeply exfoliating dead skin cells and carrying away the unwanted toxins that have accumulated on the skin’s surface.
Fewer Breakouts: Breakouts are very uncomfortable and affect self perception. Regular facials equate to fewer breakouts as the skin is relieved of dirt, debris, and buildup. This reduces the irritation of the skin and leaves your face smooth, free, and clear of bumps.
Reduces Age Lines: A facial treatment does wonders to improve the overall appearance of the skin by stimulating the production of collagen. This reduces age lines and results in a more youthful appearance.
Peels and Skin Rejuvenation
Chemical peels help to treat acne scarring, wrinkles, and irregular skin pigmentation. Whether you are looking to reduce the appearance of freckles or remove age spots, chemical peels offer an ideal solution. In addition some pre-cancerous skin conditions like keratoses have been known to be responsive to this treatment. The type of chemical peel used by Dr. Hiranaka is called the Obagi peel which is a “blue” controlled depth TCA peel.
The types of chemical peels include:
- Deep peels which are used for advanced conditions
- Medium peels such as the TCA peel
- Light peels which serve to remove surface wrinkles.
Once the skin is completely cleansed, an applicator places the chemical solution on the section of the face that will be treated. The procedure is then completed on other areas that will undergo chemical peels. For about two minutes, the patient may experience intense stinging which will then subside. The doctor will watch the skin for changes which provide cues as to how many coats should be applied. Light sedation is used and after the procedure, the chemical solutions is washed off but the skin may appear blue for about one week following the procedure. The skin may peel and flake during healing but there is no associated pain.
Skin Rejuvenation Procedures
Chemical peels are typically offered alongside skin rejuvenation treatments in order to minimize the appearance of wrinkles. Create a softer skin texture, and lighten any areas which are hyperpigmented. Some of the recommended skin rejuvenation products we carry include ZO Skin Health by Zein Obagi and Glymed, along with EltaMD and Celazone sunscreen products.
